Nestlist
Privacy Policy
Effective:
This Privacy Policy explains how Nestlist (“Nestlist”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use the Nestlist app for iPhone and its related services. Nestlist is made by Pixeldea, based in British Columbia, Canada.
The short version
Nestlist needs an account so you and your partner can share a board. We use your information to run the app, never to sell it. There are no ads and no tracking tools in Nestlist. What you save to a board is visible to the people you invite to that board, and you can delete your account in the app at any time.
1. Information you give us
Account. When you create an account we receive your name and email address. You can sign up with an email and password, or with Sign in with Apple or Google. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive Apple’s private relay address instead. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your Google profile picture, which is shown to the members of your boards. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never stored in plain text.
Renter profile. During onboarding you can tell us about your search and household: who you’re moving with, your job, pets, kids, gender, when you want to move, the country you’re searching in, the home types, bedrooms and bathrooms you want, your budget, your must-haves and your work style. We use this to fill in the message writer’s drafts and to tailor the app to your search. You can see your answers in the app’s Profile tab and change your name there; to change or delete any other answer, email us.
Boards and listings. For each board we store its name, city, budget, preferences and move-in goal date. For each listing you save we store its link, the site it came from, its title, photos, description, price, address, bedrooms, bathrooms, pet policy, parking, status and any deadline you set.
Notes, ratings and chat. We store the ratings you give listings, the notes you write (shared or private) and the messages you send in a board’s chat.
Support. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
2. Information that stays on your device
Your move-in checklist and some app preferences are stored only on your iPhone. Landlord messages from the message writer are drafted on your device from ready-made templates, the listing details and your renter profile. Drafts are not sent to us or to any AI service; you copy and send them yourself.
3. Saving listings from rental sites
When you save a listing, Nestlist opens it in an in-app browser and reads the listing details from the page on your device. The rental site sees your visit as it would in any browser, and its own privacy policy and cookies apply. Nestlist is not affiliated with Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji, Craigslist, Zumper, Rentals.ca, Realtor.ca, PadMapper or any other rental site.
4. Sharing within a board
Everyone on a board can see the board’s listings, ratings, shared notes and chat messages, along with your name, profile colour and profile picture (if you have one). Private notes are visible only to you. Anyone who has a board’s invite code can join that board, so share codes only with people you trust.
5. Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store a push token for your device and use it to let you know about new listings, notes and messages on your boards. Notifications are delivered through Expo’s push notification service and Apple Push Notification service. You can turn them off at any time in your iPhone’s Settings.
6. Purchases and subscriptions
Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment card details or your Apple ID password.
To manage subscriptions we use RevenueCat (revenuecat.com). RevenueCat receives your Nestlist account ID, your purchase and subscription status and transaction history, and basic technical information such as device model, iOS version, app version, country/store region and IP address. We do not send RevenueCat your renter profile, boards or messages. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.
7. Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run Nestlist. Each receives only what it needs for its job:
- Supabase — account sign-in, database and hosting for your boards, listings, notes, ratings, chat and profile
- Apple — App Store purchases, Sign in with Apple and push notifications
- Google — Google sign-in, if you choose it
- RevenueCat — subscription management
- Expo — push notification delivery
These providers may process information in Canada, the United States or other countries, where it may be subject to local laws. We use providers that protect information with appropriate safeguards.
8. What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or rent your information.
- We don’t show ads or use advertising identifiers.
- We don’t use analytics or tracking tools.
- We don’t access your location, contacts, camera or microphone.
9. Security
Your boards are protected so that only their members can read them, and information is encrypted in transit between the app and our servers. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit who can access it.
10. Data retention and deleting your account
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Delete Account. This deletes your account, your profile, the boards you created and everything in them, and the listings, notes, ratings and messages you added to other boards. Copies may remain in backups for a limited time before they are overwritten. Subscription records held by Apple and RevenueCat are kept as required to provide the service and meet legal obligations.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act, the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to withdraw your consent. You can change your name, boards, listings, notes and ratings in the app, and delete your account there. For anything else, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
12. Children
Nestlist is intended for adults searching for a rental home and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. If a change is significant, we will let you know in the app.
